cloudland canyon elopement | georgia elopement photography

This past October I was SO EXCITED to shoot an absolutely magical elopement at Cloudland Canyon.

Cloudland Canyon State Park is a crazy-unique spot in northwest Georgia (close to Chattanooga). There is a gorgeous overlook that showcases some amazing views of a huge (random seeming, as it's in Georgia) canyon. The sides of the canyon are covered with an assortment of trees and rocks and cliffs. A large river full of boulders runs throughout the canyon and flows into different waterfalls.

The weather was unseasonably warm the day of the elopement (mid to high 80s--at the end of October!!) and due to our awful drought, the river and waterfalls that usually flow throughout the canyon were completely dry. Instead of white waters coursing through the ravine, puddles of fallen orange leaves blanketed the bottom of the riverbed. It wasn't the situation we had planned on but it was pretty spectacular all the same.

We hiked around the canyon (which has about 600 stairs you have to clamber down to get into the canyon and then climb back up to get to the overlook) and got shots all around before making our way back up to the overlook for a sweet and intimate ceremony (after I caught my breath, of course!).

(I used a lot more color than normal, huh? But the fall colors were just so wonderful.... I regret nothing. :P)

The day was truly magical. I loved how unique, personal, and intimate every detail was - from their rings to the flowers to the location. It was the perfect day with a perfect couple.

I have space for a teeny number of elopements for 2017 and I happen to be running a crazy deal on them (since I love them so). For more information, send me an email so we can make your big day magical. :)
